Channel Locator Regions for Japan
GVD uses the type ARIB for Japanese channel locations. ARIB stands for Association of Radio Industries and Businesses, which defines standards in Japan for telecommunications and broadcasting. The location value associated with a channel indicates its region.
To determine the region, refer to the table below. For example, location 32 represents Yamanashi.
Working with Japanese Data
Programs
Japanese programs with titles in various scripts such as Hiragana (HI), Katataka (KA) and Kanji (HA) are projected as title type and value pair in GVD. The main title appears with title subtype TTL_MAIN while titles in other scripts appear as TTL_JA_SORT (meaning scripts available for Sort use case applicable to Japan). Extended attribute indicates the kind of script for the title. See example below.
