Video Descriptors

Gracenote Video Descriptors are a set of deep distinct weighted descriptors organized across 16 Video Descriptor types and bound by a unified Video Descriptor Taxonomy which consists of about 16000 descriptors today. Each descriptor associated with the program has a Video Descriptor Weight associated to it, which gives the degree of relevance of the descriptor to the program. These help our editors annotate a program comprehensively while providing the necessary signals for recommendation and personalization algorithms.

Gracenote Video Descriptors are available for programs at the TV Series and Movie level. Sports, Paid, Local and Adult programs are not covered. Programs are prioritized for Video Descriptor editorial curation based on general popularity and availability across linear TV schedules and streaming catalogs. Gracenote Video Descriptors are currently available for the US, Germany, Nordics and Australia markets and will be expanding to more countries in 2021.
